How does "HD" play its part?
So what actually is "HD"?
You have probably seen the "HD Ready" sign on many of the new TV's and wonder what this means. HD and Digital are not to be confused together which often happens. HD stands for "High Definition", here we are talking about the picture quality (the amount of pixels being displayed) producing upto five times more detail than standard definition.
Ways to obtain "HD"
- Sky
- Freesat
- Virgin Media (cable)
- Blueray DVD player
- Game consoles (PS3 & Xbox 360)
Ok where do I go from here?

Before going off and buying one of the HD product's listed above you need to make sure your TV is "HD ready". All new TV's should be "HD ready" and should display the logo (shown on the right) in the shop. You will also need a HD lead (similar to the old scart lead) this is known as a HDMI lead. All this should be explained when purchasing a new TV.
