| Sky has been the satellite TV of choice over the last 10 years. Sky is subscription based starting from £16 up to £55. To receive Sky you need a dish mounted on the outside of your house and only a small minority can not receive Sky. Sky has hundreds of channels and features, such as pausing live TV with its built-in Recorder (hard drive) and HD channels. Sky also have lately brought out sky freesat (this is different from actual freesat) with only a limited amount of channels, this could be an option if you can not receive digital through your aerial. |

| Freesat has just been released (may 2008). Freesat has no subscriptions unlike sky and you will receive around 80 channels. Like Sky you will need a dish on the outside of your house, the dish actually will point to the same group of satellites as sky (meaning you can run sky and freesat off the same dish). Freesat is ideal if you can not receive digital through you aerial. One attraction to freesat is the free HD channels, currently only two (BBC and ITV) but set it increase over the years. This attracts many buyers wanting to watch high quality TV without paying for sky. |
