Digital broadcasting will be the future and as you might be aware the switch over from analogue has already started! Therefore making sure you are ready is essential when choosing to upgrade your system. The two main advantages of digital, is that you can receive extra free to air channels, and the digital signal will give a better picture. There are two ways to receive Digtial either by aerial (freeview) or satellite (freesat / sky).

Freeview

Freeview is received through your aerial either through a set-top box or a built-in Digital tuner inside your TV. You will gain around 30 extra channels plus 20 digital radio stations with no subscription or catches. At the moment freeview can be received in roughly 70% of the UK. However by the time of the switch over 98.5% of UK will be able to receive freeview. It is hard to predict if you can receive freeview, the easiest way to check is by using the link below. Please note this is not 100% accurate and you may need an aerial upgrade, please note signal can be affected by trees or building in the way of your aerial.

Sky / Freesat

Freesat and Sky gives access to a choice of some fantastic TV and radio programmes on offer in the UK in crystal clear digital quality. Catch all your favourites from BBC1, BBC2, ITV, Channel4 and five, plus great extra channels such as BBC3, BBC4, CNN, Travel Channel and loads more. Sky and Freesat is received through a dish and a receiver box. At the moment 98% of the UK can receive the signal, so is a great alternative if you cannot receive freeview.
